An image published by NASA some time ago shows what seems to be a ‘crab’ like creature or plant clinging to a rock face. The image was taken by the Curiosity Rover on Mars.
When viewed in context there are no other objects in the scene that appear to look similar and it definitely stands out. It even has a different colour to the rock, almost orange. What could this be, a life form or just a phenomenon called pareidolia where our brain’s attempt to make shapes out of random objects?

I don’t know what it is but it sure looks out of place. I’ll try to enhance it a bit better when time permits. What do you make of it?
