Strange Geometric Shapes found West of Kunowsky Crater

These photographs (ESP_016922_2355 and PSP_007705_2350) were taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) HiRISE Camera on 07 March 2010 and 18 March 2008 respectively.

NASA describes these photographs as “Terrain in Acidalia Planitia” and “Large Rocky Area in Acidalia Region” respectively.

I discovered what look like multiple flat circular features in two separate sites (ESP_016922_2355 and PSP_007705_2350) that are 57 km apart on Mars located approximately 1054 km West of Kunowsky Crater on the same latitude line, 56 degrees North.

It looks as if the rocks have been moved somehow to produce a clearing within each circular feature.

The rocks surrounding the circular features in my opinion are too heavy for dust devils or wind to have moved them.

The question is were the rocks moved in some kind of unnatural way and why are there so many similarities between the two sites, just coincidence? If not a coincidence, could this be something similar to the ‘Nazca sand patterns and lines’ found on Earth?

Pure speculation as always, these anomalies look like something unnatural and are not specifically something unnatural.

Similarities between the two HiRISE photographs:

The following are similarities between the two sites:

  • One very large flat circular patch approximately 2500 metres in diameter with concentric rings consisting of darker material 2 metres wide
  • One medium sized flat circular patch approximately 200 metres in diameter
  • Multiple small flat circular patches approximately 25 metres in diameter
  • Small rocks litter the sites, ranging in size between 1 metres to 5 metres across with smaller stones scattered about
